Johanni Brea shares equal contribution credit with Piero Amodio on Testing two competing hypotheses for Eurasian jays’ caching for the future. Published in Scientific Reports on 12 January 2021, the paper lists Brea at EPFL in Lausanne, under its School of Computer and Communication Science and School of Life Science. This is the affiliation recorded at publication.
The contribution statement credits Brea with analysing the data. It credits Brea and Ljerka Ostojić with designing the study in discussion with Nicola S. Clayton, Amodio and Benjamin G. Farrar. Brea and Ostojić also provided critical input to Amodio’s first manuscript draft. The published account therefore supports a specific analysis role alongside shared study design.
The analysis compared 13 models in Experiment 1 and nine in Experiment 2. Both comparisons favored equal caching rates across compartments. The first experiment’s favored model still allowed differences between birds and foods. That distinction separates a spatial result from a claim that all behaviour was identical or random. Neither the modelling method nor the institutional affiliation establishes that Brea holds an information-only theory of consciousness.
