Builder The claim is about what the hardware does, and the philosophy is left open

Peng Hu is a researcher in satellite networks, edge computing, and non-terrestrial infrastructure who leads work on distributed computing in low-Earth orbit (LEO). His research models how orbital mechanics, solar illumination windows, and inter-satellite links constrain spaceborne data processing.

In the October 2026 paper Heterogeneous Space Data Centers: A Key Paradigm for Future Non-Terrestrial and In-Orbit Services (arXiv:2610.32260), co-authored with Mustafa Alhassan and Amjad Iqbal, Hu defines an architectural framework pairing high-capacity orbital compute nodes in dawn-dusk sun-synchronous orbits with agile small-satellite edge nodes. The study quantifies visibility windows, solar power budgets, and latency-aware routing across ground, aerial, and orbital tiers.

Hu carries the Builder classification on this site. His work engineers the physical communications and power topology for orbital data centers, providing the latency and bandwidth numbers needed to judge whether an artificial cognitive architecture could ever maintain unified recurrent state across multiple spacecraft.
