Gregory S. X. E. Jefferis

Builder The claim is about what the hardware does, and the philosophy is left open

Gregory Jefferis is a coauthor of the October 2025 MaleCNS preprint. Its Crossref author record lists him as Gregory S X E Jefferis. The abstract describes a male brain and nerve cord connectome containing 166,691 neurons. That manuscript count should not be assumed to be an independently checked total for the later v1.0 release.

The reconstruction links anatomical circuit research with questions about brain emulation. A map can constrain which neurons connect and how many synaptic contacts join them. Predicting activity also requires physiological parameters and validation. The MaleCNS analysis explains why broader anatomical coverage does not by itself establish a functioning or conscious emulation.

Jefferis is classified here as a Builder for coauthoring this research resource. The classification does not assign him a philosophical stance or infer project leadership from author order. The checked abstract supplies evidence about anatomical organisation, without a verdict on consciousness or substrate independence.
