Philipp Schlegel is a coauthor of the October 2025 MaleCNS preprint, as recorded in Crossref. The abstract places sex-specific and dimorphic neurons mainly in higher brain centres. It describes the sensory and motor periphery as largely isomorphic and reports circuit switches that reroute sensory information.
These findings direct attention to connectivity as well as the identity of individual cell types. A shared type can connect to partners whose organisation differs between sexes. A model would need to test the effects of those connections rather than infer behavioural differences from type totals. The MaleCNS analysis develops that modelling question while separating anatomy from measured physiology.
