Anirban Bandyopadhyay PhD is a senior researcher at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in Tsukuba, Japan, where he leads the Quantum Biology group. He holds a PhD in physics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and was a JSPS postdoctoral fellow at NIMS.

Bandyopadhyay has experimentally demonstrated terahertz-frequency oscillations and quantum coherent states in individual microtubules using scanning probe microscopy and dielectric spectroscopy. His measurements provide the most direct empirical evidence for the quantum vibrational modes that Orch-OR theory predicts inside neuronal cytoskeletal structures.

He is a speaker at Consciousness Science 2026 (CS26) in San Diego, presenting experimental data on microtubule quantum resonances that inform quantum theories of consciousness.
