Hervé Zwirn
France. Physicist and epistemologist working on the foundations of quantum mechanics.
Quantum Consciousness depends on physics classical computers do not reproduce
Hervé Zwirn is a French physicist and epistemologist whose research addresses the conceptual foundations of quantum mechanics. Convivial Solipsism, the interpretation he develops across a series of papers, preserves the universality of quantum mechanics while denying that observed events are absolute. Each observer’s measurement outcomes are definite from that observer’s perspective. They are not facts in one global factual domain shared by all observers.
The interpretation gives consciousness a specific structural role. The existence of a definite outcome is tied to the perspective of an experiencing observer, and the epistemic relation between two observers, one able to receive the other’s report as a perspectival fact but never to verify the other’s outcome in one’s own factual domain, is a formal statement of the other-minds problem. Zwirn’s paper “Misunderstanding Convivial Solipsism. The Necessity of a Perspectival Logic” (arXiv 2608.26361, 2026) answers the standard objections built on Wigner’s friend and extended Wigner’s friend scenarios. The contradictions, he argues, arise only when the perspective indices are stripped from statements and the remainders are treated as classical facts.
His larger claim is that perspectival logic stands to classical logic as quantum probability stands to Kolmogorovian probability. The rules are the correct reasoning for a domain where observational facts are perspective indexed. The position matters for consciousness research because it places the observer’s experience at the point where facthood is generated, without adding new physics and without collapsing into psychological solipsism.
